Cyber Monday!

I need to come clean...I have a shopping problem. I admit it. It's bad. Despite valiant efforts to curb my spending and monthly statements claiming, "I'm not shopping AT ALL this month," I just can't stop. While my shopping budget has decreased greatly now that I'm living alone in a new apartment, some evil force still pulls me to the mall. It's as if I have no control - one minute I'm getting in my car to pick up a gallon of milk, the next I'm at the mall or in a boutique and I have no idea how I got there. This time of year always compounds the problem. I get so much joy out of finding the perfect gift for a loved one, but I just can't help shopping around for myself in the meantime. My favorite day of the year is Return Exchange Day (ie. the day after Christmas), when I exchange gifts and shop the great sales. I leave early in the morning, all by myself, enjoy a liquid lunch (which always blurs the decision-making process and ends in impulse purchases), and don't come home until nighttime when I have a fashion show displaying all of my new goodies. See, I told you it's bad. As we head full-force into this holiday season, I hope you take advantage of the great deals that are out there on this holiest of days, Cyber Monday. Here are a few things I have my eye on. I hope you're paying attention, Santa!

Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving, loves! In celebration of all we have to be thankful for (this year, I am particularly thankful for wine), here is one of my favorite festive table settings to inspire your holiday set-up. Whether you're helping your mom with the cooking (ie. standing in the kitchen, drinking a beer and picking at pie dough) or hosting a party of 20, this setting is autumn inspired and celebratory, yet a far departure from your grandmother's annual table setting of plaid tablecloths and the "good" wedding china. The best part? It's easily created from items you probably already have and can be repurposed for other occasions.

Elizabeth Demos, a stylist and designer from Savannah, created this "rustic and woodsy" table setting for Southern Living. Bright orange napkins (there's that orange again!) against simple white plates and classic flatware is the perfect elegant base for various sized cut logs and small arrangements of silver vases and colorful flowers. Candles in clear jars and bright pink lanterns scattered throughout are the perfect finishing touches to an inviting, modern, yet completely unfussy holiday table. To get more tips from Demos, visit Southern Living.

I hope you all enjoy a day of family, friends, football and food. Oh, and elastic waist pants. Make sure you take a moment or two to appreciate all you have to be grateful for!

Orange you glad...

As I jump on the blog bandwagon and begin this new journey, I think it's only appropriate that I write about my fave color of the moment, orange! Reminiscent of the sunset and Tuscany, orange evokes a sense of warmth and confidence and at the same time, doesn't take itself too seriously. A great way to sum up Sand Dune Lane style;)
Love the mix of texture and patterns in this room and the various shades of orange used to punctuate an otherwise neutral space. Also love how the large-scale abstract painting ties it all together.
Orange in a beach house? Yes please! The Thibault wallpaper against the wide-planked floors and sisal rug is perfect in this breezy but preppy Hamtpons home.
Orange gloss paint, cane back AND animal print upholstery?! Currently dying for this chair.

The use of burnt orange against mint green is unexpected yet works so well.
Here, vibrant orange furnishings perk up an otherwise stark black and white room.

How about you - would you dare try orange in your home? I, personally, am inspired and cannot wait to utilize the color in the living room of my new apartment. But I'm saving that for another post;)
